On May 14, the Copyright Coalition of South Africa welcomed the decision by the National Assembly’s Portfolio Committee on trade, industry and competition that a more wholesome process to review the copyright bill is needed.
This decision acknowledges President Ramaphosa’s extensive objections to the defective bill when sending it back to the Parliament. Now, a full review of the bill is expected, instead of a selective review of only some specific aspects pointed out by the President’s decision by way of illustration.
