The World Expression Forum, scheduled for 30 and 31 May, has welcomed the Publishers Association (UK) and German publisher Verlag C. H. Beck as shareholders while announcing a stunning line up of speakers. Early bird rates close on 15 March.
The aim of the World Expression Forum conference is to provide participants and listeners, including audiences online, with tools and ideas on how to promote freedom of expression.
The conference will consist of keynote speeches, panel discussions and spotlight sessions. We will discuss strategies to promote and defend Freedom of Expression in workshops. There will also be artistic interventions.
Newly confirmed speakers, who are each fighting courageous battles for freedom of expression, include Amnesty International Secretary General Agnes Callamard, the CEO of Bellingcat, Christo Grozev, and Sebastian Lai, the son of Jimmy Lai, who, along with The Apple Newsroom in Hong Kong, received The Golden Pen Award last year and is now imprisoned in Hong Kong.
Former Prime Minister of Denmark, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, comes to the World Expression Forum as a member of Meta's "Oversight Board", and European Commission Vice President, Věra Jourová, will also attend the conference in digital form.
Previously announced speakers inlcued Nobel Laureates Dmitry Muratov and Maria Ressa , and last year's recipient of the IPA Prix Voltaire, Rasha Al Ameer.
The early bird offer ends March 15th. Bookings made before March 15th are guaranteed a room at the conference venue.
