Conflict, insecurity, weak institutions and limited access to justice remain a great threat to sustainable development. More than 70 million people were forced to leave their homes because of war or conflict in 2018, the highest level recorded by the UNHCR in almost 70 years. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified fragilities around the world.

What can be done to achieve the goal of promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels?

By breaking down concepts such as global conflict, peace, equality and civil rights, the books included in the reading list shine a light on some answers and offer hope for the future. Ultimately, they aim to inspire young people to advocate for peace in their local community/ highlight that young people have the power to advocate for peace in their local community.
