The IPA's latest Global Publishing Statistics reveal that readers spend an estimated €114 billion on books per year, with the six largest markets (US, China, Germany, Japan, France and the UK) accounting for over 60% of global spending on books.
The report shows that books now account for 15% of the value of the global publishing, media and entertainment industries. It compares publishing growth figures for a range of mature and emerging markets, illustrating how in the UK, e-books and exports are driving revenues. The statistics can be viewed here.
