Politicians and freedom of expression activists from across the world, including UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression, David Kaye, and Council of Europe Secretary General, Thorbjørn Jagland, submitted videos of keynotes and interviews to enable the event to go ahead. In the words of the organisers, the video transmissions represent an ‘almanac of Turkey in 2018’.
IPA added its voice to the discussion with statements from IPA President, Michiel Kolman and Chair of the IPA’s Freedom to Publish Committee, Kristenn Einarsson. They both confirmed IPA’s unwavering support for publishers in Turkey and to continue our efforts to secure freedom to publish there.
