This year’s IFRRO World Congress was a great success. Over 180 representatives of CMOs, authors’ and publishers’ associations from around the world participated in four days of keynotes, presentations, panels discussions , and other meetings.

Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Sylvie Forbin, kicked the first day off with a presentation about her efforts to bridge the skills divide between publishers in Europe and North America and those in Africa, Asia and Latin America. She was followed by speakers speaking about such future-facing topics as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and EdTech, with a focus on their relevance to and impact upon copyright.

Michiel Kolman said, ‘IPA commends IFRRO’s refreshing inclusion of these exciting innovations. They are ongoing fascinating challenges that all of us in the publishing ecosystem must confront, and it’s useful that we start as soon as possible. Thank you IFRRO.’

Next year’s IFRRO World Congress will take place next year in Edinburgh, Scotland from 4-7 November
