IPA KPA Regional Seminar composite image

To support the rapidly growing African publishing industry, the IPA and the Kenya Publishers Association (KPA) have partnered to host this continent-wide platform to discuss sectoral innovation. This year’s Seminar held under the theme of Africa Rising: Realising Africa’s Potential as a Global Publishing Leader in the 21st Century, builds on discussions from the ground-breaking event held in Lagos, Nigeria in 2018. Likely to attract more than 600 participants from 50+ countries, the Seminar promises to provide a platform for creative thinking, collaboration, and action to shape the future of publishing in Africa. The Seminar will feature several keynotes by globally renowned authors, decision makers, and industry thought leaders in addition to panel sessions and workshops featuring prominent speakers on themes at the nexus of sustainable development, the future of publishing, and education.

As a reminder the 1st Seminar in Lagos, Nigeria was a huge success. You can read our summary of the day’s discussions here. We were lucky to have a range of voices from different countries with different approaches. You can read interviews with OkadaBook’s Okechukwi Ofili and AkooBook’s Ama Dadson (who went on to win an African Entrepreneurship Award in December 2018).

More news on the programme and speakers for the Nairobi Seminar will follow soon.
