The United States of America became the 50thCountry to sign up to the Marrakesh Treaty on 8 February.

The ratification by President Trump marks a major milestone for the Marrakesh Treaty, with the US being a major publishing market and the home of the largest number of English-language texts in accessible formats.

The United States of America have since been followed by the Marshall Islands and Tajikistan with the Treaty also coming into force in Saudi Arabia.

More information on the Marrakesh Treaty can be found on WIPO’s website here.

IPA’s guide to the Marrakesh Treaty is available here.

IPA continues to monitor implementation around the world with a bill currently before the Parliament in New Zealand.
