On 9 August 2019 the fourth list of books for the UN SDG Book Club were announced. The list of titles in all six official UN languages, aimed at children aged 6-12, focuses on the fourth sustainable development goal – Quality Education.

Many countries around the world still can’t provide quality education for their primary school children. This is what Goal 4 is all about: ensuring everyone has access to a quality education. In countries where all children can go to school, boys and girls can enjoy an equal place in society and the same rights.

Our new reading list covers stories of children who had to build their own school, convince their parents that it’s worth getting an education or simply overcome their own fears about going to school. We welcome all children to read these books and find out what hurdles other children had to overcome to learn how to read and write, and everything else about this world.

Visit the SDG Book Club website to find out what you can do to make a difference, as well as tips for creating or participating in your own book club with friends and family.

You can share your comments, pictures and videos on social media by using #SDGBookClub or tagging @UNPublications. Happy reading!
