A crucial part of IPA's mission is to inform member associations and the wider global publishing community about breaking developments which will impact publishers. We do this through a number of channels. the IPA website, our monthly e-newsletter, press releases and the IPA's dedicated social media feeds.

The inaugural Educational Publishers Forum (EPF) Malaysia took place on 9 August under the banner Global Textbook Trends 2022: Insights For Governments And Publishers. The 7-hour online forum, organised by the Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA), featured 24 speakers from 12 countries and was a resounding success attracting over 200 attendees including a large number of people from the Malaysian ministry of education. IPA was an event partner.

On 11 August, the IPA, along with other international rightsholder organisations, filed what is known as an ‘Amicus Brief’ in New York in support of four US publishers (Hachette, HarperCollins, Penguin Random House and Wiley) in the case Hachette et al vs Internet Archive. This is a copyright infringement lawsuit against the Internet Archive that began in June 2020.
