IPA Secretary General, José Borghino, spoke to over a hundred Canadian publishers on 27 January, during the ‘Copyright Roundup’ session of the annual Mid-Winter Meeting organized by one of the IPA’s three Canadian members, the Association of Canadian Publishers (ACP). IPA’s other two members are the Canadian Publishers’ Council (CPC) and the Association Nationale des Editeurs de Livres (ANEL).
On Sunday 30 January, IPA Secretary General, José Borghino gave a guest lecture entitled ‘Publishing Across the World: A Panoramic View’ as the culmination of a three-month long, online course for students from across India, organized as a collaboration between the National Book Trust of India and the Central University of Haryana, Mahendergargh.
After creating a special task force to lead the association’s preparations for the European Accessibility Act, the German Booksellers and Publishers Association has been working with Fondazione LIA and the German Central Library for the Blind (DZB Lesen) and in January 2022 published guides on accessibility.
The final day of this SCCR began with the Chair recognising a cloud of fatigue in the room and encouraging delegates to press on through the day to finish the week.
Day 4 of this 42nd meeting of the SCCR picked up exactly where Day 3 left off, with discussions on exceptions and limitations and observer organisations continuing their statements.
Day 3 of SCCR 42 opened with further discussion and analysis of the new text on the broadcasting treaty with the afternoon reserved for discussions on exceptions and limitations.
